With our bathroom renovation is in full swing keeping the house clean is a constant battle against all the dust and mess. At this time of year I normally try to clean all the rooms of the house and get rid of any clutter that has accumulated over the past year but with all the tools and bags of plaster around the house this is a more difficult task than in other years.
To be honest it has been driving me a little bit insane as everything is constantly covered in a fine layer of dust and with the nesting instinct kicking in its hard to just relax and ignore it. I know it will all be worth it in the end when we have a beautiful new bathroom to enjoy but maybe it wasn’t the best time for us to be doing this. For just now I am trying to focus on cleaning small areas at a time but I know the dust will be back next weekend when the work starts again. At least next week I will have finished up work so hopefully that will give me a little bit more time each day to tackle the areas that are really bothering me.
The places that I feel really need attention next week are.
- Kitchen cupboards
- Kitchen surfaces
- Kitchen oven
- Living room shelf’s
- Hall shelf’s
- Bedroom general clean
- All the floors
- Clean windows in all rooms
Will I be happy once all this has been done? Probably not, but it’s worth a try. At least if I get most of this done I won’t need to worry about it again for a little while. Will the bathroom be finished before the baby arrives? Well that’s a whole other issue and my guess at the moment is no so I’ll need to put up with the dust and general mess for a bit longer. Maybe the annual spring clean will need to be a summer clean this year. Or maybe I should just relax put my feet up and forget about it all!
